Well written. Brought back a lot of memories
Fantastic stories of yesteryear well told with descriptive insightful writing that brings you back home for a delightful walk through the good old days.
I could almost hear the New Yorker rhythms of my grandfather's voice as I read this collection of short stories. The stories are personal, but they reflect on the more common experiences of first, second and third generation immigrant families who work hard to create a good life in the United States. The short stories themselves are moving and often funny, with a strong voice. I found myself moving through them quickly and easily, almost like the narrator was reading aloud to me. As I read I came to know and love the characters. I think honest and intimate stories like these are especially important today as we grapple with what it is to be American, what we value, and what sort of people we want to become.
Great reading. Did not want the stories to end. Looking forward to more stories in the next book. It brings back my family memories but any one can relate this to their own family memories. It is very well written.
